Interdisciplinary approaches to manuscript studies combining lectures in history and philology with materials analysis, imaging techniques, digital humanities and computer science, complemented with practical courses on mobile instruments (XRF, RTI) and on computer programs.


Up to 40 (max.) young researchers, from master and Ph.D. students to researchers and university lecturers. Active participation is expected (including poster presentation). The lectures and courses will be in English.

For those already working in the field, we also encourage to submit an abstract (one-page camera-ready, pdf- or word-document) for a poster presentation.

Participating masters students may obtain ECTS credit points from FU Berlin, Fachbereich Physik. Participants interested in this option should indicate so in their application.

Inscription Fee: 100 €
(payable until July 3rd, 2015,
after that date the fee is 150 €)

Accommodation (twin-room)
and board (6 days) 390 €

Important: Financial support (e.g. for lodging and food) can be granted based on the application (letter of recommendation, CV). Please specify when applying.

We expect to be able to financially support a large number of participants.
